Point Fortin leads Draughts & Checkers tourney

Point Fortin Draughts club leads the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs National Draughts and Checkers Association Club Tournament with 36 points. The competition started on November 8 takes place at the Waterloo High School in Carapichaima weekly. Seven points adrift of the leaders is Arima Check Masters with 29 points. The teams competing for the Grand Trophy and the title of Champion Club of T&T are the Arima Check Masters, the Queens Knights, The Tunapuna Meccas, the Shaolin Temple, the Grandmasters, the Point Fortin Draughts Club and the Tailors Draughts Club.

President of the T&T Draughts Association Foster praises the competition and sees it as a great initiative to foster club registration. Four more rounds are scheduled to be played every upcoming Sunday at Waterloo High School until the Champion Club of T&T emerges. After the second Sunday of competition and three rounds of the game, the results are as follows.

Points standing:
1. Point Fortin Draughts Club - 36 pts
2. Arima Check Masters - 29 pts
3. Queens Knights - 29 pts
4. Tailors Draughts Club - 28 pts
5. Grandmasters - 28 pts
6. Shaolin Masters - 19 pts
7. Tunapuna Meccas - 14 pts
