The Indiana State and District 6 Tourney will be held
August 25th - 26th, 2007 (Saturday & Sunday) - one week before Labor
Day
in Motel 6 (formerly AmeriHost Inn), 6105 Cambridge Way, Plainfield, Indiana. West of Indianapolis, I-70 Exit 66, St Rt. 267 (Quaker Blvd. ) North 1/4 mile, right at light (Hadley Rd.) right again on Cambridge, behind Comfort Inn. Ph. 317-838-9300. Rooms $54.95 plus tax. Please mention checker tourney when reserving room. Masters and Majors. Sat. & Sun. - 7 rounds 3-move restriction - ACF membership ($25.00/yr). Entry fee $15.00 (lower fee this year!). Special deal: if you are not a ACF member, membership + entry fee only $30.00. Start 10:00AM. Indiana is now on Eastern Daylight time, same as OH. Novice tournament is at least 4 enter: Saturday, August 27 only, Go-As-You-Please, membership not required, entry fee $10. Brandon Like wins the 2007 ACF District 6 and Indiana Open Championship.
We were honored with a distinguished visitor, Kenny Courtright of Mitchell, Indiana on Sunday. Kenny is a 5-time Indiana State Champion who is retired from active play but is a living storehouse of knowledge about the old-time players.
Ron Bailey of West Lafayette, Indiana is back in action, after missing last year and was here playing in his wheelchair from the Veteran's Home, so good for him to come and play! He has won the Indiana State Champion 8 times.
On display was our honorary wooden boards inscribed with the names of all past Indiana State Champions which brought back memories of the old-timers.
