2009 WTM 3-Move   (King vs Mosieyev)

The 3-move World Title Match (40 games) between Alex Moiseyev (champion) and Ron King (challenger) are October 5th - 15th in the Medina, Ohio. 

 

World 3-Move Title Match between Alex Moiseyev (USA, champion) and Ron King (Barbados, challenger) will be played Oct. 5-15, 2009 in Medina,
Ohio, with Oct. 10th as a rest day.  Match is 40 games (as needed).  Referee is Steve Holliday. The bid includes expenses and a prize fund for the players. 

 

The Rodeway Inn Medina Conference Center, Medina, Ohio 44256, is located on 2875 Medina Road on the Northeast corner of I-71 interchange with state highway 18 (exit 218, just south of where I-71 and I-271 merge).  Hotel is a quarter-mile from interchange.  Room rates are $49.95 (single or double) per night plus tax.  Seven-day rates (no pro-rating) are available for $149.95 plus tax (approx. $169).  Phone number for Rodeway Inn is 330-725-4571.  Please indicate you are there for the checker match to receive the discount.
 

The final cash price bid ended up with $4,500.00. ACF finally agreed to donate $1,500.00 for the world title match on USA territory where one (at least) player is USA citizen.
Ron arrives late Friday, Alex will be there Sunday afternoon. Opening ceremony will be on Monday at 9:00 AM

The 3-Move World Title Match between champion Alex Moiseyev (Dublin, Ohio) and challenger Ron 'Suki' King (Barbados) has ended in a draw, meaning that Alex retains his title. The final score was 4-4-32. The 40-game match was held October 5-15 at the Rodeway Inn, Medina, Ohio. Steve Holliday served as referee. Representatives from Think Media Studios filmed portions of the match. Prize fund was $4570, and the player's expenses (hotel, meals, flights) were also covered. The primary sponsor ($4000) was EVERGREEN-UNI (Joe LoConti's firm). Other donations were received by Richard Beckwith, ACF, Joe LoConti, Alan Millhone, Jay Hinnershitz, Don Deweber, and John Reade.


Ron King, Steve Holliday is the referee, and Alex Moiseyev.  The box on the table is a novel Ohio
State Football Checkers Set that Alex presented to Ron.
