• Congratulations! to GM Ron “Suki” King of St. George, Barbados the current GAYP World Champion, won the Masters Division US National GAYP Open Tournament.

• Congratulations! to GM Alex Moiseyev of  Dublin, OH as Second Place runner up and the US National GAYP Champion. 

• Congratulations! to GM Jack Francis of St. James, Barbados as Third Place and Congratulations! to GM Richard Beckwith of Willoughby, OH as Forth Place runner up.

• Congratulations! to Joe Moore of Levitton, PA as the winner of Majors Division, US National GAYP Champion.

  Joe also recently won the PA/District 3 Championship.

• Congratulations! to Alex Holmes of Sellersburg, IN as the Youth National GAYP Champion.  Alex won a copy of  “The Work of the Pentium”  by Carl Reno as a prize for for his effort as top-finishing youth. This book was donated by Gary Jenkins.

• Congratulations! to Neil Wenberg of Harmony, PA as the winner of Minors Division US National GAYP Champion.

• GM stands for Grand Master, IM for International Master, and CM for Candidate Master, which are earned titles given by WCDF to distinguish accomplished players.
• Ratings are from the old WCDF No. 7 Ratings (through 10/20/2010).

• "T" separates player's opponent from player's accumulated game points.  Draw is 1, Win is 2 points, Bye is 3, and Forfeit is 4.

• We send our sympathy to Mr. Richard Hallett who would have attended if he wasn't in the hospital.

• ACF didn't get a bid this year, so we appreciate Alan Millhone, Richard Beckwith, and Joe LoConti for stepping up and sponsoring this GAYP National.

• Joe LoConti gave generously to this tournament's prize fund and also a huge contributor to the Borghetti vs Moiseyev WCM, just 2½ weeks away!

• Attendance was down this year, total number of  players was 23, a first time & lowest in history. We experienced the same thing APCA did, from 72 in 2010 in Durham, NC to 39 this year in Worthington, OH.  A 46% less attendance.  ACF had 45 at the 2010 Nationals in Springfield, IL.  We also experienced a 49% no appearance.  

• Entry fees was $50 (Master’s) / $30 (Majors) / $20 (Minors).  ACF Membership was required to enter all divisions, and payable at registration.  Registration  was open Monday evening 7-9pm after Blitz Tourney and again on Tuesday morning from 8:00 -10:00am followed by a business meeting.  GAYP National scheduled to start at 11:00am Tuesday.

• All divisions voted to reduce the tournament format from 13 rounds to 10 rounds at pre-tournament meeting.  Final format was 10 rounds of GAYP, Round-Robin, with additional playoff round.

• Dr. Beckwith was the honoree in which this National Tournament was named, “The Dr. Richard Beckwith 2011 ACF GAYP National Tournament”.

• The top three places were awarded trophies to all three division winners.

• We appreciate Kim Willis as Scorekeeper, John Acker and Travis Weddle on timely posting results on Facebook, forum,  blog, and providing live videos.

• Richard Beckwith reported on 2011 GAYP National, and ACF forum (Players Rep's Corner) Checkers in Summer of 2011 (and Beyond).

• Geoff Yaw of ThinkMedia Studios, the King Me movie producer  visited one day to collect some interview footage with Ron King.

• Total GAYP Prize Fund was $3,000.00 including $1,500.00 from Oldbury Trust Fund.  Master awarded $2,340 or 78% - Majors awarded $465 or 15.5% - Minors got $195 or 6 ½%.

• Most of the Blitz GAYP players either played,  watched, or  visited throughout the tournament.

• Ray Shelly of Maryland attend tournament but elected not to play.  Carl Reno and Jim Morrison drove up together from Kentucky.
