• Congratulations! To IM John R. Webster from Stoneville, NC as the 2015 Tennessee State Open 1st Place Masters Finisher.  Congratulations! IM Larry Keen from Halls, TN as 2nd Place Finisher and he is also recognized as the Highest Tennessee Masters Player and the 2015 Tennessee State Open Masters Champion which makes his 8th time winning this title.  Larry was awarded an additional $200.00 cash Tennessee State Player's Bonus for his performance.  Congratulations! GM Jim Morrison from Glasgow, KY as 3rd Place and Paul Bryant from Marengo, OH as 4th Place. Teal Stanley from Greensboro, NC as 5th Place and Larry Pollard from Brilliant, AL as 6th Place.

• Congratulations! Bobby Gerringer from Pittsboro, NC as First Place winner of the 2015 Tennessee State Open Majors Division, and Jeff Webster from Stoneville, NC as 2nd Place winner of the 2015 Tennessee State Open Majors Division.  Congratulations! Harvey Powell from Hendersonville, TN as the 3rd Place winner of the Major Division and Mike Choate from Madisonville, TN as the 4th Place winner and both recognized as the Highest 2015 Tennessee Majors finishers and Co-Champions of the TN State Majors Division, because they tied in game points.  They split the $100 TCA Player's bonus.  Congratulations! Dallas Ramsey from Pine Hill, AL as 5th Place and Paul Hines from Russellville, KY who took 6th Place in the Majors Division. 

• Congratulations! Glenn Fuquay from Elon, NC who won the Minors Division and Bobby Rice from Columbia, KY finished in 2nd Place.  Congratulations! Ron Hensley from Madisonville, TN who took 3rd Place in the Minors Division and recognized as the highest finishing Tennessee State Minors player and he received $50 TCA Player's bonus for this achievement.  Congratulations! Vonda Jones from Talbott, TN as our 2015 Tennessee State Women's Champion and she received a $20 TCA Player's bonus as highest finishing TN State Lady's Player.

• Frank Davis opened the tournament by welcoming a field of 26 players from 7 states that registered to play.  There were at least 10 other checker players who called and cancelled their room reservations because of bad weather across multiple states where they needed to travel.  Snow and ice had some interstates closed, traffic jams, or backing up traffic because of accidents. We usually have 40-50 players to participate in the annual Tennessee State Open, but despite  bad weather we had 26 veteran tournament players who braved the conditions to play.  There were 10 entrants from TN, 7 from NC, 4 from KY, 2 from AL and GA, and 1 from OH which included 3 ACF & WCDF grand or international masters, and 6 more soon to be titled master players participating for the ≈ $5,000 of prize funds.

• Players were welcomed to Comfort Suite - Lebanon by a nice front desk counter display sign announcing: Welcome!  The 2015 Tennessee State  Open State | March 6th -8th | Sponsored by Tennessee Checker Association.

• Frank Davis covered the Tournament Format, Schedule, and Playing Rules, and Prize Fund Payout Schedule.  The Friday evening Pizza Party was announced for 6:00 pm and all players, spouses and family were invited to attend.
• This year's large prize fund would not have been possible if not for the gifts from Gene Lindsay and Leonard Hickman.  You can read the specific details here: Leonard Hickman $10,000.00 gift and Gene Lindsay Fund.
• All players received a door prize of some type which were supplied by several local merchants, Wilson County Visitors Center, Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, Wilson  Bank & Trust, and Cracker Barrel.
• Frank Davis, president of Tennessee Checker Association (TCA) announced that the 2016 Tennessee State Open would be held March 4^th thru 6^th at this same location, here at Comfort Suites, Lebanon, TN.
• Frank also opened the floor for players to announce their upcoming tournaments: 
• Illinois State Open - March 28^th & 29^th in Marion, IL at the Illinois Star Centre Mall food court;
• Missouri State Open 3-Move/GAYP - April 25^th & 26^th at the East Hills Shopping Center, St. Joseph, Missouri;
• West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Checker Tournament was cancelled;
• North Carolina State Open - May 15^th & 16^th at the Econo Lodge in Burlington, NC;
• US National is scheduled for the week of July 27^th thru August 1^st at Comfort Suites - Lebanon, TN, the same location as out TN State Open, Southern States, and National,  (Calendar).
• Ron Hensley from Madisonville, TN was recognized as playing his first TN State Open.  He is a Madisonville Checker Club member and “redeyed” on Play OK game room internet.
• Kimberly Jordan from The Lebanon Democrat & Wilson County News ran a nice tournament announcement and a follow up article,  3/6/2015 Lebanon Democrat and 3/11/2015 Lebanon Democrat.
• We appreciate Frank Davis, Tournament Director and Referee in addition to Mary Davis, scorekeeper who did a fantastic job as usual.
• Sunday service was an enjoyable one with Frank, Ken, and Larry Pollard bring messages and songs by Ken and Mary.  Jeff Webster shared some blue-grass gospel music by played a few select songs recorded from his church last month when John Webster played base fiddle in their 5 member blue-grass band “SongBirds” at Centenary United Methodist Church. Wow! what a way to soak in some spiritual health.
• We collected a nice number of ACF membership renewals.
• Most players enjoyed at least several meals with each other at either Shoney's breakfast & lunch buffet, O’Charley’s, Cracker Barrel, Applebee's, Sunset, or Demo's.
• A delightful tournament & wonderful fellowship was had by all who attended!
