Cecil was one of the original trust fund
principals and a Life-Time NCCA Member.
He loved checkers and promoted our NC tournaments. We elected Cecil to lead
our organization on July 3, 1987 at the state tournament business meeting in
Raleigh, which he held this office
until his death,
serving
continuously for 23 years.
Cecil was a tremendous help and influence to me concerning NC Checkers.
Cecil had been previously honored for a lifetime of dedication and support
of checkers and as an active NC tournament promoter
at the 2008 State Tournament in Albemarle. It was a well deserved
honor. He was a
very active tournament player with an ACF & WCDF rating of 1886 in
2009.
