Earl Lilburn Harvell was born on December 13, 1913, in Culleoka, Texas to the late Thomas Andrew and Ola Belle Rutledge Harvell.

He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2011.

Earl was a 50-plus-year Master Mason. He retired from Dow Chemical after more than 30 years of employment.

Earl was an avid checker player. He traveled all over the United States to play in checker tournaments. Most often he was the oldest player attending these tournaments and most always walked away the winner over those players so much younger than he.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of seven years, Annie Faye Hankey Harvell of McKinney, Texas; one brother, Herman Harvell of Garland, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Phennel of Princeton, Texas; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and great friends.

In addition to his parents, Thomas and Ola Harvell, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Earlene Harvell; a daughter, Kay Harvell; a granddaughter, Kathy Phillips; three brothers, Jack, Gene and Raymond; and two sisters, Florine and Pauline.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Branch with Rev. Eric Philpot officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
