In Memory of Larry C. Lovett  November 8, 1941 - September 4, 2012


JAMESTOWN — Larry C. Lovett, 70, died September 3, 2012 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro - Beacon Place.

A native of Greensboro, he was the son of the Clen E. Lovett and Miona C. Lovett. Larry attended Grimsley High School and was a US Army Veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Miona Lovett of Greensboro; Brother, Richard (Wayne) Lovett and Sandra Lovett of Roaring Gap, NC; Daughter, Tonya Moore and Thomas Moore of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren Patrick Moore and Scotty Moore of Charlotte, NC.; Several very special nieces and nephews, and companion Rebecca Smith. He is preceded in death by his father Clen E. Lovett, brothers, Ralph Franklin (Sonny) Lovett and Ronald C. Lovett.

Early in his career he was the president of Central Carolina Grocers and later the owner of Lovett's Mobil Marts. Larry was an avid fisherman, brilliant checker player, loved his family, enjoyed his retirement, his beautiful yard and flowers, and spending time with his best friend, partner, and companion, Becky.

A private family graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Larry owned two marts, one in Thomasville and another one on Vickrey Chapel Rd, which is now owned by Danny Wall. When Larry was there you could always pick up a checker game with him or a few of his checker playing buddies who frequently dropped by for gas, sundries, conversation, & of course checkers. Now Jamestown Mobil Mart, 5009 Vickrey Chapel Rd, Greensboro, NC 27407-8003, Tel. 336-884-5603, but no checkers.
