Mr. Larry Pollard - Obituary

Mr. Larry Lee Pollard, age 72 of Brilliant, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Larry was a 1962 Graduate of Brilliant High School, a member of the undefeated 1961 Brilliant Tigers baseball team, holder of 15 Alabama state checker champion titles, and one national checker champion title. Larry was a founding member of Brilliant Church of God, he started Pollard Motors in 1969 and was owner /operator until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Aaron and Vera Lee Flippo Pollard. He is survived by his wife, Tena Pollard, daughters, Melissa Tucker of Brilliant, Anita Gable (Phillip) of Double Springs, and Kelly Pollard of Brilliant, a son, Anthony "Chip" Pollard (Donna) of Brilliant, grandchildren, Jessica Tucker, Blake Young, Jacie Cummings and Macy Cummings, great grandchildren, Emma Brooke Randolph, and Madalyn Blake Young, a brother, David Pollard (Joan) of Tuscumbia, nephews, Dwayne and Andy Pollard, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Greg Webb and Jerry Norris will officiate. The visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
